I recently switched to Butrans 5mcg + 15mg oxy for chronic full body pain. I had been on straight oxycodone 45mg daily for a couple of years. The oxy is losing effectiveness at that level, and the goal was to have more relief without increasing the amount of short-acting opiates.

I was pleased with the overall effectiveness of the patch in controlling my pain without any major side effects. The withdrawal symptoms were unpleasant.

I've been on Butrans for over a year now. I started on 5 and moved to the 10 within a couple weeks. The 5 didn't feel like much improvement but the 10 felt like a miracle. I've tried everything from Vicodin, Perc, Dilaudid, etc for 8 years of disabling pain and fatigue due to fibro and lupus. Nothing worked without creating allergic reactions or put me in a sleepy fog.
