I've been on Vicodin and Vicoprofen for 20 years but they stopped being effective so my doc had me try Butrans. I've been on the 20 Mcg for 3 months and had to stop because of the nausea. Everytime I sweat or heat up a little the nausea would come on so strong that I just removed the patch. There was very little relief anyway. After using for a couple of months, I started getting itching and burning under the patch. when I finally removed it, It was very red, hives/blisters and itching. That area got redder as the days went on. Then crusty scabs and skin. It took weeks for the skin to recover to normal. My Dr. gave me a spray to use under the patch to see if that would help, but it didn't. I now have red patche ... Show Full Comment

I was in structured by my doctor to change patch every 7 days, it seems to only work good for about 3 maybe 4 days. I do what my DR. says and change it every 7 days.

Ive noticed a lot of comments indicating the high cost of the drug. Please go to Butrans website and there is discount cards available where the patient pays only 15.00/month. I have been using the patch for over a year and never paid more than 15.00. Hope this helps
